Psychological pain is processed in the same part of our brain as physical pain, and as a hug can release endorphins, they dampen the psychological pain.  

Psychological pain can be harder to deal with due to societal demands.  In the UK at least, we're not very good at dealing with someone else's grief, let alone our own.  We don't know what to say, we feel awkward, and sometimes we avoid the grieving person altogether so we don't say the wrong thing.

Grief isn't just the loss of a loved one.  It's the grief of losing a future you thought you were going to have, through redundancy, the end of a relationship, losing a pet, or receiving news about yours or someone else's poor health.  It could also be loneliness.  Just the need to feel comfort.

It doesn't matter the reason, all that matters is that you feel it, and it's real.  Having space held for you while you're at your most raw and vulnerable is something we all need at some point in our lives.

You will be met with empathy and patience when you need it most.

Anything from spooning, laying your head on my lap, or a cuddle in the car during a lunch break, you tell me what you need and I will do what I can to hold that space for you.
